Paris Pipi
Or why you should always inspect your footage carefully
For my first trip ever to Europe, I landed in Paris. I had a full week in the City of Light and was determined to capture as much footage as possible before moving on to another country.
After a long day of walking, I was ready to call it a night when I passed by this view of Notre-Dame. Normally, I try to capture scenes like this earlier in the evening, when the sky still holds a bit of color. But I figured… why not? One last shot before heading home.
I was happy with the result and later bundled it with other timelapse clips from the trip to sell to clients.
Years later, while browsing through my portfolio, I noticed something unexpected about this shot.
Is it what I think it is? Let’s zoom in:
Yup.
I sold this shot quite a few times over the years. In some cases, clients even displayed it on giant screens. Oops… my bad.
Now I can’t help but wonder if I’ve missed little details like this in other shots.
In retrospect, I’ve visited Paris several times since then, so honestly… I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, right?
